Tauern Views, Moments of Wonder.
Presenting the largest national park in Austria within the confines of a basement and part of the ground floor - this is the challenge of redesigning the permanent exhibition at the Hohe Tauern National Park House in Matrei i.O. Initial considerations revealed that it would be impossible to comprehensively showcase such an important protected area in such a “small” space. Therefore, we decided to offer a glimpse from afar and evoke a sense of longing. To create a pleasant ambiance, the old, dark appearance of the previous exhibi- tion will be transformed into a pleasant, bright one. Furthermore, we will break through a portion of the ceiling between the ground floor and the basement to create an open space. The walls are intentionally kept white and the graphics are kept simple, as this enhances the impact of the views into the park. The entire exhibition focuses on the six experiential areas: Summits, Rocks & Ice, Streams & Lakes, Alpine Meadows, Pastures, and Mountain Forests. The various stations explore the content from different perspectives and employ different means. Illusions are created using state-of-the-art technology such as VR goggles, holo- gram projections, and direct projections.
